With our new tradition established in 2020, we kept our international guest speaker a surprise. We announced Jeff Atwood, the final speaker at our internal tech conference, and no surprise here, but the crowd was speechless. Jeff is very well-known in the world of tech and co-founded the computer programming question-and-answer website Stack Overflow so needed little introduction.
Entelect hosted its internal technology conference of the year – DevDay. We decided to keep it online in order to keep our people safe, and because we have been successfully working remotely for some time now.
With our new tradition established in 2020, we kept our international guest speaker a surprise. We announced Jeff Atwood, only as he came onto our screens as the final presenter of the day.
Jeff Atwood is an American software developer, author, blogger, and entrepreneur. He co-founded the computer programming question-and-answer website Stack Overflow and co-founded Stack Exchange, which extends Stack Overflow's question-and-answer model to subjects other than programming.
Jeff spoke about how he came to be the owner and writer of the computer programming blog Coding Horror, which focused on programming and human factors. He discussed all things Stack Overflow that our people wanted to know about. Not only was his talk extremely insightful, but his knowledge of subject matters was much appreciated.
All Entelect offices across South Africa, New Zealand and The Netherlands joined in on the day, and we had Twitter competitions and spot prize giveaways throughout the day.
DevDay is an in-house technology conference organised, presented and attended by Entelect’s own people where the technologist, inventor, hobbyist, engineer, or artist in you can come to the fore. The event is part showcase, part science show, part geek club, part makers club; offering a range of lightning talks on cutting-edge technologies, as well as a variety of interactive exhibition stands where people can discover the latest creative innovations in technology.
